Skunk Cabbage – Symplocarpus foetidus

Description
First plant to flower in the spring with a mottled brownish red hood holding a large style. After flowering, large glossy green leaves form a large rosette. Leaves are similar in appearance to cabbage, hence the name.

Occurrence
One specimen near crick and several in back 40 spring area.
